Writing a book is child’s play, compared with getting published. And writing is tough! I came to the Algarve to finish my first book, and to complete another. Maybe I should try something easier, like scaling K2!!!
“Dark Matter”, tells the story of a psychologist, who is also a functioning psychopath. He uses his acquired and innate skills to convince his daughters and his wife that they were raped in childhood. Under the guise of protection, he uses his family as weapons against innocent others with devastating effects.
The title has a Lambda character in the word “Dark”. Lambda is the symbol for dark matter in the universe. Dark matter cannot be seen or touched but its effects are hugely significant – a close parallel with psychopathy.
I spent 5 years researching and writing this 135,000-word manuscript. Earlier this year, I had an editorial assessment of my work by a UK-based editor. Several Zoom calls later, I am facing a decision on whether I need a complete rewrite to commercialise the content.
I said it was tough.
“Angel and the Handbag” is the story of how and where I met Sandra. The idea, no, I mean the imperative, came to me when this summer, I found a briefcase in my attic containing letters that we wrote to each other 30 years ago. The pages are filled with incredible joy and yearning, heartbreak and anguish, every emotion possible between two people crazy about each other. These letters are the material for the book.
The book covers the first 5 years of our world together. To understand the title, you must have patience, and read this book.
I have just started, and hope to finish both books by end 2023.

Hi Des, I wish your books are being published. I can read them then. Two totally different subjects. But both subjects are deeply emotional and will touch the reader. Take care in Portugal !
