Who’s gonna tell you when, it’s too late?

We don’t take enough time to appreciate the wonder of the Universe. I took this photo from the slopes of the Sierra Blanca in southern Spain on a visit to my school friend Henry and his wife Mary. Clearly visible, just below this new moon was the planet Venus, and just above, Jupiter. My opticals fell short of capturing those planets!
I made the 1,100 km round trip across southern Portugal and Spain, to the tiny village of Canillas de Albaida, clinging by its fingernails to the slopes of the Sierra mountains – in the centre of the photo.
Henry came here, from Dublin, ten years ago to write a novel, and fell for the people and locale.

There is a triplet of villages in the local region, the largest of which is Competa, and the essence of life is captured in this picture – there are no level parts – you are either ascending or descending!

I took a solo drive on Sunday morning into one of the National Parks in Sierra Blanca and was fortunate to see this carpet of almost pure white cloud bubble over the Sierra peaks and roll down the slopes. No better mental therapy.
Henry was selected for Ireland’s national rugby team in the 1970s and with three six Nations games last weekend, we watched the matches in the eclectic comfort of his apartment with his wife Mary.
Their comfy nest is just off the central Plaza (below) and we treated ourselves to a superb meal in Gustavo’s restaurant on the Plaza.
