I cannot let Sandra go. And if that feels uncomfortable, it’s because it is true.
The 9th of October marked two years since she left us, and I spent the day with my sister and her family in Madrid, driving 814 km in a day in each direction. Too much time to think.
The 15th of October marked my one year in Turiscampo – living in a caravan! I could write a book!
The biggest negative was having the air poles in my awning explode in the intense heat of July, and the rain and winds of last week, shredding whatever remained. The contents, for the moment, are in my car, piled up in the caravan, and under a tarpauline.
I captured the photo from a tower at the Autodromo racetrack last weekend. A single flash of lightning lit up the world, it seemed, and an explosion of thunder shook the tower. It felt like the earth was splitting.
At the track, by coincidence, I met Greg Murphy from Dublin. I used to race a touring car against Greg.
Greg runs a Le Mans Prototype (below) and his claim to fame is a 5th place overall finish at Le Mans.
He kindly took time for a coffee and chat, and I dared to ask how much he pays his two drivers! I spilt my coffee when he said €300,000 EACH driver for seven races.
Also, racing in the Le Mans series is Michael Fassbender – the Irish/German film actor. If you look closely, you can see these two old boy racers have the same colour eyes.

My friend, Judith, from Madrid, wanted some portrait shots for a new social media presence. So, before my studio (awning) collapsed, we had fun creating these images, which she agreed I could publish. Commissions entertained.
Good work Des. Now you have stayed a year, dare I ask if you plan to stay longer? We will be there end of January through to March.
